Head of Program Management
Mr. Sushil K Sarkar is a seasoned learning & development and programme management professional with 19+ years of extensive experience in training and programme/project planning, execution and evaluation across diverse organizations. He joined United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS) as an Electoral Training Officer in 2009. He was then assigned to the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) as a Training Officer. Sushil then was apportioned to the UN Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) as the Deputy Chief Training Officer. He later worked with the United Nations Department of Peace Operations, as a Chief Training Officer/programme head based at the UN Regional Service Centre in Entebbe, Uganda.
Prior to that, Sushil had worked with UNDP, India as Programme Officer, and UNDP Bangladesh as Training Manager and UNOPS Bangladesh as National Capacity Development Officer. He successfully served with BRAC Bangladesh and BRAC Afghanistan as an Associate Faculty Member, and the Chief Trainer & In-charge respectively. He also worked with OXFAM (UK) Bangladesh and CARE Bangladesh for a short period of time.
Sushil has Master’s in MA Sociology degree from the Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu-India and Education (Med.) degree from the Royal University, Dhaka. He earned his PhD degree from the Throne of Grace International Open University, Telengana-India. He also completed three Post Graduate Diploma degrees in Human Resources Management, NGO Leadership & Management and UN Requisitioner Programme. Sushil holds the Certified Training Processional (CTP) designation from ARTDO International, Malaysia and Certified Project Management Professional (PRINCE2) certification from AXELOS, UK along with many other professional training certifications both in abroad and country. He is a member of the International E-Learning Association (IELA) in USA and Bangladesh Society for Training & Development (BSTD).
Sushil is one of the recipients of “National Youth Leadership Award-1988” Bangladesh and Seba Rathna Award -2020, India for his outstanding leadership and services to the society. He wrote a few articles on: i) The cascade training: an effective method for electoral management at operational level, ii) Role of Training in Preparation of Electoral Roll with Photographs, iii) Tools and techniques for creating an enabling learning environment in the training programme, which were published in a PROSHIKHYAN Journal, Vol 19, 21 and 23. He is also an author and co-author of several training & trainer’s manual and quality training materials.
